The goal of this assignment was to choose a cubist era painting, and create a model showing circulation through the painting's layers. The painting I chose was Comic Wedlock by Francis Picabia. This painting was completed in 1914, and is currently owned by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Comic Wedlock - Francis Picabia
The model is constructed from white museum board and aluminum.
The circular platform seen above, is where the circulation starts.
The model is held together by the tension created by the aluminum walls.
This is where the path separates, providing a high and low pathway through the remaining portion of the model.
The low pathway becomes enclosed, while the high pathway remains unsheltered.
The pathway through the painting ends here on the circular platform. Which is accessible from the low and high pathways.
